McCotter Introduces Resolution Condemning Communist China’s Treatment of its Prisoners of Conscience

Washington, D.C. – Today, September 22, 2011, U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter (MI) introduced a resolution condemning Communist China’s discrimination, harassment, imprisonment, torture, and execution of its prisoners of conscience. Additionally, the resolution calls upon Communist China to cease these practices and release the number of prisoners of conscience that have been imprisoned, tortured, or executed.

The resolution also urges the Obama Administration to raise the issue of Communist China’s religious persecution in high-level diplomatic meetings with Communist Chinese officials, and expresses support for the Tuidang movement, whereby Chinese citizens renounce their ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Representatives Dana Rohrabacher (CA-46), Lynn Westmoreland (GA-03), Gus Bilirakis (FL-09), Walter B. Jones (NC-03), Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-21) and James Sensenbrenner (WI-05) are original co-sponsors of Rep. McCotter’s Resolution.
