McCotter’s Statement on October Unemployment Report

Nov 4, 2011

Livonia, MI – U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter (MI) has issued the following statement today in response to the release of the October 2011 unemployment numbers by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“The national unemployment rate for the month of October remains dismal at 9.0%. Our Michigan suffers the nation's fourth-highest unemployment at 11.1%; and 650,000 of our friends, families and fellow Michiganders are out of work and their families struggle.

"The administration's obstinate attempts to reprise a failed stimulus at greater taxpayer expense and increase taxes, regulations, deficits and debt will only deepen and prolong this economic stagnation and the pain of American families.

"Our prosperity comes from the private sector not the public sector. Thus, I will continue fighting for lower taxes, spending, deficits and debt; for fair trade with free nations; and for the accountability and reform of the Wall Street bail out banks, so capital can again flow to the American entrepreneurs and workers who will grow our economy and lead us all to better days."
