Big Government’s Unacceptable “New Normal” Persists
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter (MI) has issued the following statement today in response to the release of the September 2011 unemployment numbers by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics:
“The Obama Administration’s unacceptable ‘new normal’ of 9.1% unemployment persists, as big government continues to fail the American people.
"Nationally, U.S. employers posted the highest number of job cuts in more than two years triple the number from a year ago and unemployment insurance claims increased by 6,000. In fact, two weeks ago our Michigan suffered the highest number of new claims of any state, as our families continue to bear the brunt of this economic stagnation.
"All told, in September, the number of job seekers in the U.S. grew to an unacceptable 14 million.
"To end this unacceptable 'new normal' and allow our entrepreneurs and workers to grow this economy and our families to pursue their prosperity, we must restructure big government into a citizen driven government that matches our consumer driven economy; and, thereby, free American enterprises to compete and lead in the global economy."
