WASHINGTON D.C. - Today Representative Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) released a letter directed at President Bush requesting Congressional oversight on an administration approved transaction made with communist China. The transaction includes the exportation of sensitive equipment and technology to communist China to assist with Olympic security. The equipment transfer raises concerns on Capitol Hill as it may break American laws.
“Given communist China’s massive military build-up, lack of military transparency, continued espionage to acquire United States defense intelligence, and history of proliferating weapons and weapons related technology, it is important this recent transaction receive Congressional oversight,” said McCotter, Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee.
‘While this transfer could have important implication for our national security, it could pose a profound moral problem if communist China uses American-designed advanced technologies to repress Chinese people in the name of security,” concluded McCotter.
Representative McCotter’s letter requesting the Bush Administration inform Congress of the details of this transfer to communist China is now open for co-signers.
