McCotter calls for formation of

‘Victory Committee’ to oversee funding
for War on Terror

WASHINGTON – Congressman Thaddeus McCotter (MI-11) introduced legislation today, which calls for the creation of a bi-partisan “Victory Committee” to oversee and, where necessary, investigate, the funding for the War on Terror, especially in Afghanistan and Iraq.

According to McCotter, the legislation is “specifically intended to compel Congress to exercise its oversight responsibilities and ensure taxpayers’ funds are being properly and fully expended to provision and protect our military, and to promote our nation’s victory.”

The legislation is cosponsored by Congressman Collin Peterson (D-MN).

McCotter, who serves on the House Committees on International Relations, Budget Committees, and Small Business was honored to have Representative Peterson as his Democratic lead on the bill.  “Collin has been a champion of our troops and the taxpayers, and his experience, intelligence and integrity are most appreciated and applicable to the successful passage and implementation of this legislation.”
